Brussels – Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, is still recovering from the pneumonia that struck her at the beginning of the year, so she has decided, following protocol order, to entrust Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribera with the responsibility of chairing the weekly meeting of the College of European Commissioners to be held in Brussels on Wednesday, January 15.

On the agenda will be the cybersecurity of hospitals, while the competitiveness package has been postponed until the end of January as the dossier is not yet ready.

“President von der Leyen is still at home in Hanover. She will resume her external commitments at the end of this week when she will be able to travel,” the European institution’s chief spokeswoman Paula Pinho said today (Jan. 13). Next week, von der Leyen will travel to Davos for the World Economic Forum summit and to Strasbourg for the plenary session of the European Parliament. The meeting in Gdansk between the College and the Polish government will be held on Thursday, February 6 and Friday, February 7.
